Connecticut born Steve Wynn can be thought of as cavalier. In the early 1970s, Wynn staked the family’s bingo hall business money into Las Vegas’s Frontier Hotel and Casino. That skyrocketed Wynn’s ambitious career. His companies have since partaken in most of the major casino building projects in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, including the infamous Mirage, the Bellagio, Treasure Island, Encore, and (no surprise here) the Wynn.

In his personal life, Wynn’s life reads like a soap opera. He was in a long and complex relationship with Elaine Farrell Pascal. The couple were married, divorced twice and in between had two daughters. Pascal was also given numerous designations in the companies. After the second divorce in 2010, Wynn married Andrea Danenza Hissom in 2011.

The Wynn family today is worth about a cool $3.1 billion.
