These Are The Richest American Families

The Brown Family

The company that makes the brand Jack Daniel’s (bought in 1956) started in 1870. George Gavin Brown, a pharmaceutical salesman from Louisville, Kentucky thought why not bottle high-end premium whiskey in glass bottles. That idea ballooned into the Brown-Forman Corporation that manufacturers and sells various spirits and wines like Woodford Reserve and the aforementioned whiskey. The 25 members in the family own more than half of the Brown-Forman Corp shares with an approximate net worth of $12.3 billion.
