These Are The Richest American Families

The Cargill-MacMillan Family

W. Cargill was the son of a Scottish sea captain. In 1865, he started a small grain storage business that he probably never envisioned would some day become the billion-dollar enterprise of today. Now the agribusiness – Cargill Incorporated – earns $108 billion a year. Its estimated the family has $49 billion with 14 members including descendants of Cargill’s son-in-law John MacMillan (who had taken over the business in 1909) are billionaires themselves.
