William Randolph Hearst, the son of a wealthy miner, was put in charge of the San Francisco Examiner, a recently acquired newspaper. Over 60 odd years, Hearst created one of the most expansive publishing and media empires of the world. He even inspired Orson Welles to star him as the title character in the classic film “Citizen Kane”. The family owns Hearst Communications and is currently sitting on a cool $24.5 billion. Lydia Hearst is set to inherit this massive family fortune.
