Smartest Professional Athletes in Every Sport

Dikembe Mutombo was one of the best defenders in the NBA. He played for 18 seasons and received multiple awards of which the majority are Defensive Player of the Year awards. He entered Georgetown University under a USAID scholarship and was able to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics and Diplomacy in 1991. From a little knowledge of English, Mutombo became an expert on the language together with other languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Central African dialects. Dikembe Mutombo is also well known for his philanthropic efforts outside the court. Back in 1997, he established the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation, which helps build hospitals. One of them is Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital, which he named after his late mother. He received the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award twice because of his humanitarian work.
